Coeur d’Alene trustees maintain leadership at annual meeting

Trustees at Coeur d’Alene Public Schools maintained their school board leadership Monday evening at their annual meeting.

“Hate to break something that’s working,” said Heather Tenbrink as she nominated Rebecca Smith for another year as chair and Lesli Bjerke to remain vice-chair.

The two were willing to continue their roles but hoped to review board goals in the near future after spending much of the fall focused on passing the district’s $50 million levy.

“And that’s why you are the board chair,” Jimmy McAndrew joked in agreement.

The two were voted to return to their positions unanimously.

“Thanks for that and thanks for that vote of confidence,” Smith said.

McAndrew and Bjerke were unanimously voted to continue as the board’s representatives in union negotiations.

“That will make our paperwork way easy,” said Superintendent Shon Hocker as the meeting drew to a close.

The board set their meeting schedule for 2025, continuing to meet on the second Monday of each month at 5 p.m., except for in June. The trustees meet at the Midtown Center Meeting Room in Coeur d’Alene. All meetings are either live streamed or recorded and posted on the district’s YouTube page.
