Eight local charities and 48 schools will receive more than $1 million from the Albertsons grocery chain.
The money was collected during the annual Boise Open, an event on the men’s professional golf Web.com Tour. Albertsons has been a Boise Open sponsor for 24 years and has raised $15 million in charitable donations. This year’s donations went to food banks, shelters and education.
Albertsons presented the checks at a Monday breakfast event at the Grove Hotel. Superintendent Tom Luna, Lt. Gov. Brad Little, area mayors, superintendents and principals attended.
Twenty-four area Albertsons store directors selected two schools near their store to receive $1,000 each. Ten districts and 48 schools benefited.
The Idaho Foodbank, the Meridian Food Bank and United Way of the Treasure Valley received $15,000 apiece.
