The chairmen of the House and Senate education committees have asked that the focus of this year’s listening session is the 20 recommendations made by the Governor’s Task Force for Improving Education.
The event will be held today from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Lincoln Auditorium in the west wing of the Statehouse’s ground floor.
“We invite all of our citizens to participate and share with us their ideas on how our education system can be improved,” said House Education Chairman Rep. Reed DeMordaunt, R-Eagle.
Anyone is welcome to testify and though the focus is on the task force recommendations, people can talk about anything education related except Idaho Core Standards. The Idaho Core Standards forum was Wednesday. Click here for our coverage of that event.
Senate Education Committee Chairman Sen. John Geodde, R-Coeur d’Alene, said he’d like answers to these questions:
- What does autonomy look like for a school district?
- How will teacher licensure affect our education system?
If you would like to address the joint committee on Monday or share your ideas with lawmakers, here are the rules:
- Prepare statements in advance.
- Limit comments to three minutes.
- More detailed suggestions can be submitted to the committee in writing and will be made available to all committee members.
- Comments may also be submitted via email to: [email protected]
