Gov. Butch Otter is looking to fill a second vacancy on the State Board of Education.
Otter’s office announced Wednesday that it is accepting applications for the spot that Milford Terrell will vacate on June 30.
The State Board of Education is a policymaking body that provides oversight of Idaho’s K-12 system and colleges and universities.
Terrell announced his retirement in April. The Boise resident and business owner was originally appointed in January 2003. His term is set to expire in February 2017.

Additionally, Otter has yet to fill the State Board seat that former member Ken Edmunds vacated when he was appointed director of the Idaho Department of Labor in November. After Edmunds’ departure, 24 applicants applied for his old seat, including longtime Democratic state representative Wendy Jaquet of Ketchum, former State Board member Laird Stone and Twin Falls Mayor Gregory Lanting.
On Wednesday, Otter spokesman Jon Hanian said interviews have been completed with four finalists, but an appointment has yet to be made.
“The decision now rests with (Otter),” Hanian wrote in an email. “I anticipate a decision soon. But I do not know precisely when.”
The brief online application form for boards and commissions asks respondents about their qualifications and interests, any professional licenses they hold and the current organizations and societies they belong to. Applicants also are asked to submit to a background check and disclose any criminal offenses within their lifetimes.
