Will Goodman, the chief technology officer for the State Department of Education, is leaving after only five months on the job. His last day is June 30.

A Wednesday morning press release said the reason for his departure is to be closer to family and be more directly involved with the education process.  He will return to the Mountain Home School District as its technology director.

Goodman has been with the State Department since Superintendent Sherri Ybarra took office in January. He supported the department during the legislative session, with the transition of the Idaho Education Network and also the review and reduction of the statewide data collection system, ISEE.

“The reason for this change is simple; I want to spend more time with my family,” Goodman said in the press release.

Chris Campbell has been named the department’s new chief technology officer.  Campbell is currently the department’s Region 1 and 2 Regional Education Technology Coordinator working with school districts on data uploads and technology support.  Prior to working at the department, Campbell served over seven years as the director of technology for the Genesee Joint School District where he was responsible for all district technologies, technology professional development, and assisted teachers with integrating technology into their classrooms.
