Dietrich High School was locked down Wednesday afternoon, hours after news of a sexual assault case drew national media attention.
Sheriff’s deputies detained a woman who visited the school without checking in at the office. According to The Times-News in Twin Falls, the woman is the sister of a Dietrich student who says he was sexually assaulted by three high school football players.
Three suspects in the grisly assault face charges; two suspects face felony charges of assaulting the student with a foreign object. Meanwhile, the parents of the student have filed a $10 million lawsuit against the school district, saying school officials ignored and even encouraged the attacks.
Students were later reunited with their parents at a nearby church, The Times-News reported. The lockdown was lifted at about 5 p.m. Wednesday.
