Wilder superintendent files against Ybarra

Wilder School District Superintendent Jeff Dillon has jumped into the Republican race for state superintendent.

Jeff Dillon

Dillon on Friday filed paperwork naming a campaign treasurer, David Lincoln of Parma. Naming a treasurer is a precursor to campaign fundraising. The official candidate filing period occurs next spring, and the Republican primary will be held in May 2018.

Incumbent Sherri Ybarra has already named a campaign treasurer — Tim McMurtrey, a former Mountain Home School District superintendent and a top aide in Ybarra’s State Department of Education. Ybarra has said she plans to seek re-election in 2018.

This is a developing story. Check back Monday for more details about the superintendent’s race.
