Nampa narrows superintendent search

After a day of interviews Friday, the Nampa School District has narrowed the field for its superintendent’s vacancy.

Patrons and staff will have the chance to meet finalists William Fritz and Paula Kellerer Monday night.

The district will host a meet-and-greet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at district headquarters, 619 S. Canyon St. Trustees will interview the finalists Monday and discuss the vacancy during a closed executive session Tuesday.

Fritz, an assistant schools superintendent from Indian River, Fla., and Kellerer, a dean at Nampa’s Northwest Nazarene University, were selected from a short list of five candidates. The district also interviewed Kim Bekkedahl, assistant superintendent from the Kuna School District; Melba School District Superintendent Andy Grover; and Madison School District Superintendent Geoffrey Thomas.

A panel of trustees, community and district representatives, parents and students conducted Friday’s interviews.

The new superintendent will succeed David Peterson, who is retiring on June 30.
