Music is making a comeback in the Bonneville School District.
Same goes for physical education.
The Eastern Idaho school district has reinstated music and P.E. at all elementary schools, for the first time since 2011.
The programs went by the wayside during the Great Recession, when the state imposed unprecedented budget cuts on public schools, the Post Register reported.
The difference this year? In March, voters approved a two-year, $11.6 million supplemental levy, an increase from a $3 million-a-year levy.
“One of the things we were doing (with the levy increase) was trying to bring back some of the programs we had previously had throughout the district,” Bonneville curriculum and instruction director Jason Lords told the Post Register.
