A prominent education lobbyist is switching jobs at the Statehouse.

Jess Harrison will be the new executive director of the Association of Idaho Cities. She had been communications and government affairs director for the Idaho School Boards Association.

While with ISBA — a nonprofit group that represents school trustees and charter schools — Harrison was a Statehouse fixture, frequently testifying on education topics.

Harrison received her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in public administration from Boise State University.

As AIC executive director, Harrison will head another one of the Statehouse’s more prominent lobbying groups, representing the interests of more than 200 Idaho cities.

Harrison’s move continues a shuffle of lobbyists representing public entities. Former AIC executive director Seth Grigg stepped aside earlier this year to lead the Idaho Association of Counties. He replaces longtime IAC head Dan Chadwick, who has retired.
