The Twin Falls School District will go to voters with a renewed — and larger — plant facilities levy proposal.

The district will seek a 10-year, $47.5 million levy, the Twin Falls Times-News reported. This levy would replace a 10-year, $33 million levy that expires in 2018.

Twin Falls is dealing with aging schools, and a growing demand for maintenance, the Times-News reports.

The district has 500,000 square feet of new building space added in the past decade, Superintendent Brady Dickinson said. And aside from its new schools opened last year, Twin Falls schools are, on average, 53 years old.

Trustees voted unanimously to put the plant facilities levy on the March 13 ballot.

Twin Falls is the second large district that says it will take a ballot measure to voters in March. The West Ada School District will seek a $95 million bond issue and a $28 million supplemental levy.
