Superintendent Ybarra’s schedule: Dec. 3-7

State superintendent Sherri Ybarra will be in Washington, D.C., most of this week — for just part of a national summit meeting on education reform.

The Tallahassee, Fla.-based Foundation for Excellence in Education is hosting an education reform summit in Washington this week.

Ybarra is traveling to Washington on Tuesday, which is why the summit is blocked off on her schedule, spokesman Scott Phillips said Monday.

However, the summit’s agenda lists only one event for Wednesday — early registration, which runs from 3:30 to 6 p.m.

Ybarra will attend one summit-related event that does not appear on the agenda, Phillips said. She will attend a Wednesday evening reception and dinner hosted by the foundation’s board of directors. Ybarra will also attend meetings Wednesday, hosted by the National Conference of State Legislatures, and will meet with other state superintendents Wednesday, Phillips said.

According to the summit’s agenda, events begin Thursday morning and run through early Friday afternoon. Ybarra is returning to Idaho late Thursday, Phillips said. Pressed for details, Phillips encouraged Idaho Education News to file a public records request for more details.

Ybarra has no scheduled events or meetings Friday.
