POCATELLO — Five local high school students have been charged with multiple misdemeanors after engaging in an altercation with a high school vice principal and others on school grounds, according to the Idaho State Journal.

The Pocatello Police Department says the students, whose names are not being released, attacked Pocatello High School Vice Principal Heidi Graham and another unnamed adult during a dispute involving a scooter outside Pocatello High School on Sept. 24, the Journal’s Shelbie Harris reports.

Police said the teenagers confronted Graham after she took the non-motorized scooter from a student riding it near the bus stop after school — a violation of district policy. Efforts to retrieve the scooter from Graham led to her “shaking back and forth,” Harris reported police as saying.

The students also attacked another adult who stepped in to help Graham, police said. A student who also stepped in to help reportedly took a blow to the face.

A juvenile judge reviewed video footage of the brawl prior to the filing of charges of disorderly conduct, accessory to battery and battery.

Three of the students face up to a year in juvenile detention. Two others face up to 18 months in juvenile detention.

No one sustained serious injuries during the altercation, Harris reported. All students involved are under 18 years old.
