Leaders of the Buhl School District and White Pine Charter School are leaving their positions, one with a sweetheart deal and the other with a unanimous termination vote.
White Pine trustees voted Tuesday to terminate executive director Jeremy Clarke, board chair EmmaLee Robinson told parents Wednesday. “This tough decision comes as a result of ongoing breach of school policies and a failure to follow board directives.”
Robinson did not elaborate further, but she previously told EdNews she planned to “clean house” as recently appointed board chair. The White Pine board twice violated Idaho’s open meeting laws in a five-month period, and leadership completed construction projects without board approval.
Meanwhile, Buhl trustees voted last month to part ways with Superintendent Ron Anthony. A separation agreement between the district and Anthony allows him to finish the school year, and receive pay and benefits for “input and assistance” next school year.
Idaho’s Professional Standards Commission in January announced that it would formally reprimanded Anthony for producing inaccurate teacher reports. Teacher reports are important because they impact state funding for K-12 schools.
Promotion in Parma
The Parma School District promoted one of its principals to lead the district.
Stoney Winston, principal of Parma Middle School, will replace outgoing superintendent Jim Norton on June 30.
The decision followed “a lengthy process” with 11 applicants vying for the job, trustees said.
“We believe Mr. Winston will continue the great work of our district while bringing new ideas for advancement and success,” said board chair Rod Nielsen.
Winston was an assistant principal and athletic director in Parma and the after-school programs director in the Middleton School District.
