A College of Western Idaho administrator has taken the president’s post at a Pendleton, Ore., community college.
Mark Browning, CWI’s vice president for college relations, is likely to take over the presidency at Blue Mountain Community College sometime this fall.

“I am so honored and excited for this opportunity,” Browning said in a BMCC news release. “My wife and I are anxious to jump in and become a part of the Blue Mountain family and the greater eastern Oregon community.”
Browning had spent the past 14 years working in Idaho education, including a staff post with the State Board of Education and later a staff position with North Idaho College. He had held his vice president’s post at CWI since September 2016.
He is working towards a doctoral degree in education from Idaho State University. In September, he is scheduled to defend his dissertation on dual credit and partnerships between K-12 and community colleges.
CWI is already searching for a new president to replace Bert Glandon, who retired in May. A successor isn’t likely to be named before fall.
