Idaho Education News reporter Blake Jones has accepted a position with the nationally respected media company POLITICO. His last day with EdNews will be May 6.
“Blake is extremely talented and destined to do great things in journalism,” said EdNews managing editor Jennifer Swindell. “We’re sad to see him leave, but I’m proud that the work he did in Idaho made him a national recruit.”
POLITICO, a political journalism company based in Arlington County, Virginia, covers politics and policy in the United States and internationally. It primarily distributes content online but also with printed newspapers and podcasts.
Jones will cover California education from the outlet’s bureau in Sacramento.
“I’m thrilled to transition from one great news outlet to another, taking my passion for reporting on education policy and politics with me,” Jones said. “I’m also grateful to EdNews and the Idaho community for making my time in my home state so rewarding.”
Jones, a graduate of the College of Idaho, covered education policy creation, finance and politics. EdNews will begin an immediate search for a veteran political reporter.
