Silverback CEO Jim Lewis says the $2.5 million in angel money represents the “next funding round” for the fledgling company — which hopes to use the capital to expand Mileposts’ market share.

Developed in the Blaine County School District about a decade ago, during Lewis’ tenure as district superintendent, Mileposts is now used in about 80 school districts in 13 states. In Idaho, 34 districts use Mileposts, opting to pay for this system even as the state is piloting the Schoolnet software system, which is free for districts to use.
