State superintendent Debbie Critchfield spent the majority of Thursday monitoring legislation, as several superintendent-backed bills made their way through the Statehouse. Her financial literacy bill — an idea she’s touted since she was on the campaign trail — unanimously passed the Senate late Thursday afternoon.
When her eyes weren’t glued to the legislative session, Critchfield was meeting with legislators and SDE staff members. She held her first one-on-one meeting with Communications Director Scott Graf — a practice she plans to continue monthly with each member of her executive team.
The superintendent also met with staff from the SDE and the Office of the State Board of Education to go over their processes for fulfilling public records requests.
She plans on closing out a busy Thursday at the Sullivan Reberger legislative reception.
