A grand jury has indicted a Washington State University student in connection with the killings of four University of Idaho students.
Bryan Kohberger has been in custody since his Dec. 30 arrest, and faces first-degree murder charges in connection with the stabbing deaths of Ethan Chapin, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle and Madison Mogen. The students were found dead in an off-campus house on Nov. 13. The slayings thrust the U of I into an international spotlight, and prompted some students to leave the campus for the remainder of fall semester.
Kohberger had faced a preliminary hearing, scheduled for June 26. But the grand jury indictment effectively allows prosecutors to bypass the preliminary hearing process, the Associated Press reported.
An arraignment is now scheduled for 9 a.m. PDT Monday at the Latah County Courthouse in Moscow, the Idaho Statesman reported Wednesday.
