Opponents of Common Core State Standards (called Idaho Core Standards in Idaho) are hosting an event in Boise on July 27.
The program, “The Problems with Common Core,” will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Boise Centre on the Grove.
One of the three national guest speakers at the event is Jane Robbins, an attorney and a senior fellow with the American Principles Project in Washington, D.C. She co-authored the report, “Controlling Education From the Top: Why Common Core Is Bad for America.” She has written numerous articles about the problems with Common Core and has testified about the issue before the legislatures of six states. She is a graduate of Clemson University and the Harvard Law School.
Tickets for the event are $10 and can be purchased here. Idahoans For Local Education and 912 Project Idaho are sponsoring the program.
Idaho Core Standards — covering mathematics and English language arts — will go into effect in Idaho schools this fall.
