Idaho State touts fundraising increase

Idaho State University recorded a big fundraising increase in 2023-24 — with much of the money going toward financial aid.

All told, Idaho State received more than $18 million in philanthropic contributions for the budget year that ended June 30. That represents an increase of close to $4 million.

“Idaho State University’s rise as a leading comprehensive research university in the state is a testament to the remarkable generosity of our donors,” Idaho State President Robert Wagner said in a news release. “Their support for scholarships, distinguished educators, excellence in the arts, athletics and impactful research not only benefits our students and communities but also drives a robust state economy.”

Earlier this month, Wagner said Idaho State is planning its first comprehensive capital campaign in 25 years.

Last year, donors gave $8.5 million for student scholarships, including 24 newly endowed scholarships. The new donations figure to boost Idaho State’s overall scholarship offerings, which totaled $3.7 million a year ago.

Athletics were another beneficiary. Donors gave more than $750,000 to Idaho State’s Prepare to Roar campaign, which supports athletic programs and provides financial aid to student athletes.

Idaho State received gifts from 8,853 donors.
