As Boise State University continues the most ambitious fundraising campaign in its history, the head of the university’s foundation is stepping aside.
Vice President of Advancement and Boise State University Foundation CEO Matthew Ewing will leave Boise State on Oct. 31. He is returning to his alma mater, Indiana University, where he will work as senior vice president for development.
“(Ewing’s) extraordinary outcomes will affect students, faculty, and staff for generations at Boise State University,” President Marlene Tromp said in a news release Monday. “He led our fundraising team through three consecutive record years, launched our largest philanthropic campaign in university history, and built relationships and structures that set us up for many successes to come.”
A year ago, Boise State launched Unbridled: The Campaign for Boise State University, a $500 million fundraising campaign. The university entered the campaign with $295 million in hand and now has $363.2 million.
The campaign has earmarked nearly $70 million for endowed scholarships, fundraising for 10 new endowed faculty positions and $136.2 million for athletics.
Argia Beristain, Boise State’s senior associate vice president for development, will serve as interim foundation CEO.
