SHELLEY — Another East Idaho school district will have a new superintendent next school year.

Shelley Superintendent Bryan Jolley has announced his plans to retire on June 30, 2019.

“After a great deal of thoughtful consideration, I have decided to end my 35-year career in education and retire at the end of this school year,” Jolley said, reading from a prepared statement during a school board meeting Thursday.

The news follows Bonneville School District Superintendent Chuck Shackett’s announcement that he plans to retire in June, and Jefferson County Superintendent Lisa Sherick’s announcement that she plans to retire in January.

Jolley took over as Shelley’s superintendent in 2004. His career included nearly two decades as a junior high principal, according to a statement on the district’s webpage.

Jolley said the process of finding “the best possible candidate to lead the district” contributed to the timing of his announcement. He thanked the Shelley School Board district staffers for shaping a school district “we can all be proud of.”

“My experience in this district has been exceptional,” Jolley said.
