EAGLE — Students and teachers from the Idaho Fine Arts Academy need your vote to win $75,000, which would help support the school’s visual arts program. Students were selected as a semi-finalists in the Vans Custom Culture design contest from more than 2,000 schools across the country.
The competition works like this: Each school submits two pairs of blank Vans sneakers that have been decorated according to two themes of “Local Flavor” and “Off the Wall.”
Students design shoes to show off Idaho beauty. The designs included mountains, ski slopes, gemstones and potatoes.
If the school receives enough votes, Idaho Fine Arts Academy teachers plan to use the $75,000 to get student artwork out in the community. The money will be used for contest entry fees, travel and materials needed for projects.
