In past years, most of the Treasure Valley’s enrollment growth has been centered in Canyon and West Ada counties — in districts such as Meridian and Kuna. Boise, meanwhile, as hovered a bit below the 26,000 mark.

But it appears now that the Boise School District is also poised for growth.

According to the latest district enrollment report, the district has added 514 students since September 2012, bringing total enrollment to 26,079. That would be Boise’s highest fall enrollment since 2004-05.

In addition, Superintendent Don Coberly told school trustees Monday, “We’re looking at our largest kindergarten class since 1998.”­ (More about Monday’s meeting from Boise Weekly.)

Also telling: Enrollment across the Treasure Valley has increased by about 3,000 students — which is roughly equivalent to the statewide enrollment increase projected by the State Department of Education. In other words, much of the state’s enrollment increase is centered in the Treasure Valley.
