College Application Week is coming to high schools across Idaho

In 88 schools across Idaho, next week is College Application Week.

That’s when schools will host a series of events designed to encourage seniors who might be on the fence about college — and get younger students thinking about their options after high school.

The events will occur during the school day, and the goal is to have every senior fill out at least one college application.

Last year, 10,503 students filled out 15,412 college applications.

The State Board of Education launched College Application Week in 2013, with only 21 participating schools. Last year, 81 schools took part. This year’s list of participating schools includes 14 first-timers.

“The program has grown pretty steadily and we are excited to have more first-time schools participating this year,” said Dana Kelly, student affairs program manager for the Idaho State Board of Education.
