If you’re a Nampa taxpayer and you want to speak out about another school property tax levy, Tuesday’s not going to be your night.

If you just want to see if the district comes back with another levy proposal, Tuesday isn’t going to be your night either.

The school board will hold a work session Tuesday night to hear from stakeholder groups and discuss the details of a possible levy.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in district headquarters, 619 S. Canyon St., and is open to the public. But the board will not take public comment Tuesday; the district says a public hearing will be held at a later date.

And the board will not decide Tuesday when it will run a levy — or how much money it will seek. Those are decisions for some later date.

The board started this process last week, voting unanimously to seek some type of levy some time in 2014.

Voters in the financially troubled Nampa district have approved two levies since August 2012, totaling $7.5 million. The district anticipates ending the 2013-14 budget year narrowly in the black. But both levies — a two-year, $3.2 million levy passed in August 2012, and a one-year, $4.3 million levy passed in March — are poised to expire.

Districts can run levy or bond issue elections on only four dates in 2014: March 11, May 20, Aug. 26 and Nov. 4.
