Ybarra restructures IT department, hires spokesman

The staff shuffling continues in Sherri Ybarra’s administration — as the new state superintendent has eliminated two jobs in her IT division.

“The Idaho Department of Education is restructuring four positions in the IT department,” Ybarra spokeswoman Melinda Nothern said in an email. “The instructional technology division is being moved to curriculum. Two of the personnel in that division will move with the division. Two other positions in the IT department are being eliminated. Those positions will be eventually be moved to directorates that have more direct interactions with students.”

These moves came Friday.

On Monday, Ybarra announced hiring Kelly Everitt as her communications specialist. Everitt had been managing editor of the Mountain Home News for the past 26 years.

Everitt had announced his plans to leave the newspaper business in a column last week.

The staff turnover also involves the State Department of Education’s web designer, who left last week for another job. This vacancy will be filled, Nothern said.
