The Kuna School District terminated Kuna Middle School office manager Melissa Whiteley after she was accused of inappropriate conduct with a minor. Law enforcement is conducting an investigation of the accusation.
The district said in a letter to staff and the community that it has not been given full details because this is an active investigation. However, given the serious nature of the charges, the district terminated Whiteley.
If patrons and parents have concerns or questions they have been encouraged to contact the district office at 208-922-1000 or the Ada County Sheriff’s office at 208-377-6790.
“Our number one responsibility is to keep all the children under our care safe,” said superintendent Wendy Johnson.
Johnson also pointed out that all employees undergo a background check. At the time of Whiteley’s hiring, nothing in her background check indicated that the district could have anticipated this alleged behavior from her, the district said.
Last fall, the Kuna School District launched a review of all district hires and Johnson said her district would be conducting a thorough review of hiring practices after an assistant football coach was arrested on a drug charge.
