“I believe in the power of educators to transform the lives of the young people they teach and lead, and believe one of my main responsibilities as an educational leader is to help remove barriers so that teachers can focus on teaching and administrators can focus on supporting their teams,” Johnson said in a press release.

Johnson brings a wealth of knowledge and accomplishments to her new administrative position. As an education leader, she has successfully implemented early childhood education programs, expanded educational opportunities for students, expanded stakeholder partnerships and advocacy, increased accountability and transparency, and strengthened fiscal stewardship. 

“As a brand new teacher searching for my first teaching job after graduating from college, I asked my father, a former chemistry teacher at Boise High School, for advice. His advice to me was simple, ‘apply in the Boise School District and nowhere else. Boise is the best district in the state, and they care about their teachers,’” Johnson said.

“Much to my father’s disappointment, I did not take his advice back in 1994 – instead choosing to take a job in the school where I completed my student teaching. While I believe choosing the Kuna School District for most of my career has helped me to grow as an educator and as a leader, I have felt my father’s words whispering in my ear over the last several years whenever I ponder what my next step in education should be. I’m so excited that my father will get to see me working in the Boise School District that he loved.”
