A third Idaho school superintendent has broken into the $200,000 club, a first in state history.
The list of superintendent salaries for this year was made available by the State Board of Education and West Ada’s leader Derek Bub is again on the top with an annual salary of $222,064. He’s making about $7,000 more than he did last year.
The Boise School District’s first-year superintendent Lisa Roberts is the next highest paid leader with an annual salary of $210, 978, followed by Becky Meyer, superintendent at Lake Pend Oreille School District, who makes $208,242. Meyer was making $183,200 last year.
Roberts makes nearly $7,000 more than Coby Dennis, who previously held the position in Boise.
The Boise School District occupies three of the top 10 highest-paid administrator spots with the district’s two assistant superintendents making $182,036.
Data is not yet available on average administrator salaries, however, during the 2023-2024 school year, administrators on average earned $107,000. Aside from a slight dip in 2020-2021, administrator salaries have increased every year since 2015-2016, when the average pay was $85,264.
Not all of the administrators in the top 10 received a raise over the previous year. Scott Thomson, administrator at North Idaho STEM Charter Academy, makes the same $197,600 he did during the 2023-2024 school year.
Not only is their pay different, so are their numbers of annual work days. Bub is on a 230-day contract, Myer and Hocker are contracted to work 260, Roberts is at 244 days and Thomson is only contractually obligated to work 160 days.
