It’s official — the West Ada superintendent job has been posted — on the hallway walls of the Coeur d’Alene Resort.
The Idaho School Boards Association’s annual convention is in Coeur d’Alene this week, attracting more than 500 school board members, guests and superintendents.
West Ada trustee Russell Joki is taking advantage of the foot traffic by posting a paper job opening notice to find a leader for Idaho’s largest district. He posted at least eight throughout the walkway between workshops and the dining area.
Not all trustees love the idea of paper posting. “I didn’t have anything to do with it,” West Ada trustee Mike Vuittonet said.
Joki first posted the job notices on Wednesday, the first day of the convention, and they were taken down. He put them back up on Thursday.
“I don’t know who took them down,” said Karen Echeverria, executive director of the ISBA. “It doesn’t matter to us.”
The posting includes the cell phone numbers of the five West Ada trustees.
It also includes minimum qualifications:
- Superintendent experience
- Superintendent certification
- The ability to work cooperatively with the board
Superintendent Linda Clark resigned earlier this month after a series of conflicts with the board. The board chose to fire her on Monday instead of accept her resignation.
The post says the board will consider interviewing candidates in November and December with a selection “announced as early as possible.” The salary is promised to be “competitive.”
