West Ada trustee’s emails come under scrutiny

School Board member Carol Sayles sent out emails on West Ada School District computers on the eve of the May 19 election, endorsing candidate Julie Madsen, the Idaho Statesman reported Tuesday.

The district has asked its lawyer to look into the matter, the Statesman reported — in part to determine whether Sayles’ emails divulged information from a closed executive session. Sayles’ emails identified a district employee who had resigned following a termination hearing.

The emails endorsed Madsen, who defeated 13-year incumbent Anne Ritter on May 19. Madsen was unaware of the emails, Sayles told the Statesman; Ritter told the Statesman the emails reference comments made in executive session.
